Busking for CHANGE Montreal, March 2nd
Busking for CHANGE Montreal, March 2nd
Busking for CHANGE is heading to Montreal! If you’re shopping in Montreal’s Eaton Centre, or travelling by Metro on Tuesday March 2nd, you’re bound to hear musicians busking to raise money for war affected children.
Celebrated musicians will busk at two of Montreal’s busiest Metro stations (Berri-Uqam and Place des Arts) and at the Eaton Centre, playing music to raise money for children whose lives have been torn apart by war. All money collected at each site, and through online donations, will support War Child so
come out, bring your donation, and raise funds online!
Busking will take place at key times of the day – early morning, lunch and after work. Watch this space for the full artist schedule.
Busking for Change was inspired by Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace, who spent twelve hours busking for War Child on the streets of Toronto in October, 2007. Last year musicians in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver took to the streets to help us raise over $100,000 for war affected children in some of the most devastated regions of the world.
Busking in Montreal has been made possible, in part, by War Child's long term partner, Spring, part of the ALDO Groupe. Spring has been a partner of War Child for over a year. During that time they have raised enough money to rebuild three schools in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Two of the schools opened their doors to students in September 2009.
Here’s your chance to do the same! Sign up NOW, get your friends and family to sponsor you, and raise cash for War Child. It’s that simple. You don’t have to be a busker, or even be in Montreal, to help us in our fundraising efforts. Everyone is encouraged to sign up and start getting pledges, or search out your favourite participating artist and make a pledge on their personal page. Or just hit the donation button and help in any way you can.
