GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP IN THE CLASSROOM

Global Citizenship in the Classroom is an education program that inspires teachers to bring critical world issues into their classrooms. At the heart of the program is an effective set of learning resources for teachers and students consisting of a Teacher's Toolkit and four 60-minute teacher-training workshops. This strategy is supported by War Child Canada's groundbreaking 2006 Youth Opinion Poll (in cooperation with Environics Research Group), where youth from across Canada were interviewed on their interest in and opinions on global issues. 90% of Canadian youth between the ages of 15 and 24 said they are interested in what is happening in the world today and believe they can make a positive contribution to the world. More important, 75% of Canadian youth cited teachers as an important source of information on global issues.
