Children are always amongst the first casualties of war. Many are orphaned at a
very young age are left with a devastating lack of access to food, medical assistance,
and education. In some cases, children are forced to work as soldiers, and in other cases,
they're recruited and used as sexual servants. This type of psychological trauma can scar
a child for life.
War Child Canada aims to provide children with the assistance needed to cope with the immediate
and long-term consequences of war. All of our programs and decision-making processes are designed
to find grassroots solutions to help children on a local level. We believe that our influence,
even on one child, can make a positive and lasting impact on their country and community.
Our vision, like that of our sister offices in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, is to advance
the cause of peace through investing hope in the lives of children caught up in the horrors of war.
