The War Child Rockin' Auction

War Child has joined forces with 102.1 The Edge to bring you a weekly online auction of amazing memorabilia, tickets, and unique experiences, while helping children in war zones.  New auction items will be announced every Thursday at 9:00 pm on 102.1 The Edge, as part of Thursday 30 with Dave Bookman. The items will be listed on our eBay page and will be accessible through this site, and at www.edge.ca.

The War Child auction item this week features a brand new EPIPHONE SG SPECIAL GUITAR AUTOGRAPHED BY THE STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. The band autographed the guitar while at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on their current tour.

The Stone Temple Pilots have been a dominant force on the music scene since they emerged in the early nineties and became one of the defining bands of the decade. A rarity in the rock scene the band managed to gain critical acclaim, a cult-like fan following, as well as commercial success. Despite their grunge influences, the band was often more concerned with tight song structure and strong musicianship than punk rage. Their body of work has endured the test of time and their absence on the scene has only highlighted the strength of their music.

When the band officially reunited in 2008 they embarked on a successful reunion tour across North America. On May 25th 2010, Stone Temple Pilots released their highly anticipated self-titled album to excellent reviews. This iconic band, who has gone platinum eight times, had 16 singles on the Billboard rock charts (six of which peaked at #1) and won “Best Hard Rock Performance” Grammy in 1994, has not let down their fans and has returned with as much, if not more, charisma and talent as before.

All auction items have been generously donated and all money raised will go towards helping children whose lives have been devastated by war. A new item will be offered each week, so keep checking the site for updates.
