Raine Maida has long been a supporter of War Child Canada, performing at huge benefit concerts and donating songs to both War Child CDs. His next fundraiser, however, will be a little different. On Thursday 25th October, Raine will be embarking on a 12 hour busking marathon around Toronto.

That’s right, from eight in the morning to eight at night, one of Canada’s top musicians will be up close and personal at a street corner near you!

Raine, who has visited Darfur and Iraq with War Child Canada, is hoping to raise $30,000 to rebuild a school in the Democratic Republic of Congo. And he hopes to raise that total by the end of the day!

The Our Lady Peace frontman releases his awesome new solo album, `The Hunter`s Lullaby`, via his own Kingnoise label, on November 13th. His day of busking will be filmed for a short documentary to accompany the first single, `Yellow Brick Road`. As Raine explains, "In keeping with the theme of my solo record, I`m taking control of a once shallow medium, the rock music video. The video for `Yellow Brick Road` will be a testament to human goodwill and made for the cost of a cup of coffee."

Raine’s wife, Chantal Kreviazuk, who has just returned from visiting a War Child project, explains why the couple are so committed:

"I just returned from a trip to Ethiopia and have never been more certain of this grass roots charity`s authenticity, or its integrity. Never have I been more excited about aid and development by War Child Canada. Our money and our time and energy are NOT going to waste!"
