The Governor General of Canada today announced that Samantha Nutt, War Child Founder and Executive Director, has been appointed to the Order of Canada, one of Canada's highest civilian honours. Samantha was appointed for her contributions to improving the plight of young people in the world’s worst conflict zones. She is humbled by the award and thanked the Governor General for the "tremendous honour", adding "This will be a Canada Day I will never forget!"
Samantha's husband, Eric Hoskins - himself an Order of Canada appointee - took to Twitter to announce his pride for his "beautiful wife, best friend and committed humanitarian".
On behalf of everyone at War Child, I would like to offer a heartfelt congratulations to our bold and fearless leader!
And while we're on the subject of Samantha, I would like to remind everyone that the new appointee's book, Damned Nations, is released on October 25 by McClelland & Stewart Ltd. You can pre-order it from all the usual outlets.
